English being a large depot of knowledge is a language of great importance all over the world. Likewise, Literature is an important cultural product of a society. The study of English literature offers insights into the worldviews of different societies. The Department of English was established in the year 2014 which is a remarkable year in the journey of the department, since its inception 20years ago. The students of literature are motivated to develop a unique subjective objectivity that helps them in self-exploration and self-realization. To enrich the talents of the students, Literary Activity is conducted called ‘Lingua Quest’ which developed the sense of literature in each and every student who is participating. ‘Magnum Opus’, a literary club conducted monthly to augment the knowledge of the students.The Department invites distinguished scholars and academicians from various Universities and institutions for a scholarly interaction with the faculty and the students. Spaced out from all these, students were trained to develop their knowledge in English through Communication Class as well as Spoken English Classes which develops the rich talents of students connecting to every aspect of society. The Department is headed by Ms.K.Adlin Deva Sugin, who ably supported by a dedicated fraternity of teachers in which the department continues to endeavor, explore and achieve.

The Department of English has been engaged in imparting quality education, in keeping with the vision of ARISE AND SHINE established in 2012. The Department of English concentrates on providing an impression of Literature from aesthetic, linguistic, socio-political, and cultural milieu.

Mission:

ENRICHING VALUES, ENLIGHTEN LIVES is the Mission of the Department of English. Apart from regular teaching, the Department arranges extension lectures, seminars, and conferences for the professional growth of the students and promotion of academics for the teachers also.

Memorandum of understanding:

Firstly, with a well-established publication called Eureka Publication – Pune, providing publications of the books, research papers, and conducting conferences/ workshops/FDP/Training Programmes and value added courses.
Secondly, with a renowned Skill Development Academy LEARNWORTH ACADEMY from Israel, providing ‘The Burlington English’ a unique program for English Language acquisition which offers a blended learning solution combined with face-to-face classroom activities with anytime-anywhere access to state-of-the-art online interactive courses. the Burlington English Program by LW to train students on Lingua Skills, Interpersonal Skills, Personal qualities, in interview skills, Workplace Skills, and practice professional dialogues and get campus-to-corporate up skilling.

B.A. English: What is it about?
The program aims to introduce a wide range of Literatures in English. In the primary phase, it offers the opportunity for students to be able to respond and read novels of the large spectrum, play and create poetry with associated genres. At a secondary level, the students will be exposed to wider socio-cultural and political issues in relation to contemporary English Literature. This program on English Literature will serve as an excellent foundation for students who want to do a very deep study.
